Before You Book

We highly recommend booking your cake smash early and ideally 3 months before baby's 1st birthday. Booking early ensures we will have availability and we can be fully prepared for your session. We do try to accommodate last minute bookings if we have availability, but we might be limited on set and cake design. If you would like to have baby's photos back for his/her birthday, we recommend scheduling your cake smash no later than 4 weeks before his/her birthday, and image selections must be made within 3 days after delivered proof gallery.

We ask that the cake smash questionnaire be submitted 4 weeks prior to your cake smash. This allows us the time necessary to order any supplies we may need for the theme, and to order your custom cake from our baker. Our professional baker requires 4 weeks notice for any custom cake orders. Otherwise, we can order a naked cake for you in short notice (shown the white winter cake smash), or you are welcome to supply your own cake.

What to Expect

Cake smash sessions take about 45 minutes. We start with portraits of your little one so that we can capture their personality. Then we will bring out the cake for smashing! Some babies want to dig right in, and others need a little bit of encouragement. We have tricks and tips to help baby if they aren't sure about the cake. Sometimes we have to help baby tear apart the cake too. Be prepared to get messy! Splash bath portraits are taken after the smash if desired.

The Mess

Don't worry; we got it! We have made the cake smash area in a place that can be easily cleaned. All we ask is that we try to keep your little one on the white boards after the smash part. Please bring extra clothes for you as well because sometimes parents get messy too!

What to Wear

We recommend bringing 2 outfits to your session. One outfit for portraits, and one outfit for the cake smash portion. Keep in mind that the outfit worn for the the cake smash will get messy. We recommend rompers, diaper covers, or for girls, tutu's for the cake smash portion. Etsy has cute custom made outfits, or Amazon has some great options as well.
